Getting Acquainted with Mexican Artists…



Jose Maria Velasco

He was born in Mexico on July, 1840. He’s considered as one of the biggest visionary in XIX. He died on August, 1912


Jose Clemente Orozco.

He was a distinguished muralist and lithographer. He was born in Jalisco, on November 1883 and died in Mexico city on September, 1949.


Frida Kahlo

Her life got marked by the physical pain that started with poliomyelitis had in 1913 and followed by a series of diseases, injuries, accidents and operations. Her art is characterized by the synthesis of expressionism and surrealism elements with a popular thematic and autobiography. She was born and died in Mexico city (1907- 1954)


Jose Guadalupe Posada

He started to work as a lithography teacher in Aguascalientes city; Later he moved to DF where he worked as an Illustrator newspapers.


Diego Rivera

He was a Mexican outstanding muralist of communist ideology, famous for capturing works of high social content in public buildings

IV.            Federal Law: The Federal Law about Monuments and Archaeological Zones; Artistical and Historical.

V.              Auxiliar Organisms: The civil organizations which essential purpose are the protection of the Cultural Heritage of the state.

Archaeological site "the king". 

It is formed by 47 structures, paintings, murals. It is believed, that the first citizens 
inhabited 300 years ago, before of our era. It is located on blvd. Kukulcan km18, Cancun. 

Mayan Museum. 

Blvd. Kukulcan km16.5, hotel zone, Cancun. 
This history place is devoted to the Mayan History. 

Underwater Museum of art in Cancun. 

It is located under the waters sorrounding Cancun, at Punta Nizuc and Isla Mujeres. 
It has  around 470 underwater scultures. 

Mercado 28. 

Located at 2 kilometers of blvd. Kukulcan and 1 kilometer from the Palapas Park. 
 The ideal place to get handicrafts. 

Tulum. 

It is located at 128 km south of the city of Cancun. 
It is an archaelogical site which combines history, culture and nature. 

Konhunlich. 

It is the name of the city and ceremonial Mayan center, it is located at 65 kilometers of Chetumal, Quintana Roo, in the region of Rio Bec, very close to the frontier between Mexico and Belize. 

Chacchoben Ruins. 

It is a Mayan archaelogical site, located near of the Chacchoben homonym town, 70 kilometers from the Mexican city of Chetumal. Its name refers the "colorado corn". 
The site corresponds the  largest  updated settlement reported in the area known as the Lake region. 

Dzinbanche. 


It is a Mayan archaelogical site located in the Mexican state of Quintana Roo, 78 kilometers from the city of Chetumal.
